Dentist Today...:(

Today is root canal day. Pity me.

Also, I had chocolate chip waffles for breakfast. My kitty is behaving himself, and its sunny and bright today. Good mood is imminent, despite dental fears.

Downloaded a dozen or so linux based podcasts. I really really want the new Hannah Montanna PSP pack coming out in July, JUST for the PSP. Even if it ends up having some dumb HM design on the back, I have been desperate for a purple PSP for ages. AGES.

Anyhoo, thats my updates from me. Should I get the DSi when it gets here or wait for it to come out in a color I like? I'm keeping my DS Lite, maybe thats really enough for me. I use homebrew too and I'm comfortable with my DS as is.

And I'm gonna buy a cat tree for my kitty. :) My kitty needs spoiling.

I need to do my laundry too. AGH TOO MUCH TO DO!

Fanfiction.net has been in a glitchy state for THREE DAYS! What the frak is wrong with this thing? I'm not the only one too, a lot of people are talking about it. Three people have been able to post updates after nearly three days of errors, and according to one them I read the thread of it was a monumental task to just get logged in and posted.

Video of my Loom.

Yesterday I made a video of my loom, and the project that I did on it, which I got through pretty quickly in fact.

Here be video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SkBx6aN8hw

Rainbow belt. Yay! :D

Now I just warped the loom for the next project. It took FOREVER!! But it'll be worth it, the yarn I chose, red and white, nice canadian colors, looks so nice on the loom. I'll post pictures once I've started weaving a bit, as I'm still fiddling a bit with the warp.

My First Loom

My Beka Rigid Heddle loom arrived just right now! :D I have sportingly left the sample project on the loom in order to get myself familiar with it, but I'm not to happy with the project they gave me.

The rainbow threads are wonderful. The chunky red yarn they put on for a weft doesn't go so well it it, you lose the rainbow weaving with it.

Another peeve: two of the heddles in the large heddle reed they sent are loose, I'll have to glue them in place.

But I am otherwise really happy. I be happy. :) I shall post pictures or whatever later, right now, I'm removing that red yarn I think, and getting some of my nice white crochet thread to go with the rainbowy stuff. :3 We shall seeee.

To Crochet or Not To Crochet

Today I'm going to see my councillor, and I have to decide whether I should go to this crochet group I found afterwards or just get my shopping done and go home. A frustrating decision to make. I don't like the idea of being downtown all day, and then sitting around crocheting with strangers. But at the same time, I do like the idea. Crocheting in company.

And then there's the fact that I feel a headache creeping up on me. I want to do this, go crochet in a group!

I'll just have to bring my crochet stuff with me today and see how I feel about it when the time comes. :/

Also, a good crochet podcast: http://podcast.thecrochetside.com/

Learning how to knit, need a tourniquet

Hi everybody! :) I am now in the process of learning how to knit! I have crocheted all my life, but never knitted.

Kind of wish I hadn't picked up the needles. My raynodes is giving me pain pain pain! D:

I got the knit stitch down pat, even if my tension is screwy and my work is slow. But man, purl really giving me trouble!

Having trouble with keeping my knitting from being too tight, or from bunching up. :/ Guess I should just work on learning the stitches and the tension problem will work out.

Doesn't help that I'm using the wrong sized needles for the wrong sized yarn. But I only have one pair of knitting needles. A trip to Walmart may be needed soon. :o

Handmade Nation: The Book

I just bought a copy of Handmade Nation and I'm looking forward to reading it.

But I'm in Canada...how can I see the film? Will I have to go to a movie theatre, or can I rent it from Blockbuster? I shall have to do my research.

Also, I took the handmade pledge: http://www.buyhandmade.org/

Let it be known that handmade rocks!

Craft Is Ending Its Print Run!

Sorry to make my second post to my blog a downer, but I couldn't let this pass without commenting. I just recently began collecting Craft Magazine, and now Craft is stopping production of its print magazine. More information can be found here; http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2009/02/craft_volume_10_is_our_last_is.html

Naturally I'm a little sad and frustrated by this. But I'll be snatching up all 10 issues they did print as soon I can. I may also subscribe to Make Magazine, which they assure us will NOT be ending print ever, as its more successful than craft was.

I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, since crafting is DIY. I wonder if they'll be sneaking in knitsy articles along with the robotics and arduino programming geekness into the next Make magazine. Hm. :3

As always, I am posting to tell you that I'm changing this blog, yet again. Today I am taking my first step to participating in a more professional world, and so I would like my blog to reflect my new world and new life. I still write fanfiction. which anybody can find at http://www.fanfiction.net/~strangeseraph and that site will never change.

My new website, http://home.cogeco.ca/~jcappello is my new professional hub. As soon as I get the money flowing in I'm getting the strangeseraph domain for my webpages.

This blog is going to be my personal blog, for my day to day life and interests, so there may be posts about fanfiction here. But also my crafts and hobbies, my love life (I love you Tati!) and my friendships. It is the blog about me, for those people who navigate here from the web and want to know who I am.

My writing blog is a new premise that will be taking off at the end of February. It is a Novel Blog, in which I post chapters of my original writing for everyone to read, under the Creative Commons, and hopefully with future advertising and visitor donations I'll be able to get some funds from that, but this writing blog is meant to be a channel for my creativity, originality, the odd poem, and prose, lots and lots of prose. But no fanfiction, fanfiction will be kept to my fanfiction.net account and the random clean post on this blog about that writing. For those who don't know me my fanfiction tends to be oriente towards more adult readers.

I'm hoping my new shift in blogging will help me find my niche in this strange growing online world of the internet. I want to get on board, with what is hopefully an original concept in writing, and something that will help me explore new avenues of more professional publication in the future.
